Arnold Sikkema, PhD

Theme:

“Look Up! Faith, Science, and Mentorship”

The breathtaking images from the James Webb Space Telescope reveal the vastness and beauty of creation, revealing God's boundless creativity and care.  Drawing from personal experience, Dr. Sikkema will help us "Look Up!" and explore how science and faith complement each other, inviting us into lives of humility, service, and mentorship rooted in servant leadership, and a deeper awe of God's work in both the cosmos and our communities.

Speaker Bio:

Arnold Sikkema has served as physics professor at Trinity Western University since 2005, where he chairs both the Mathematical Sciences Department and the University Senate.  He also serves as the Executive Director of the Canadian Scientific & Christian Affiliation.  He completed a BSc in physics and mathematics at the University of Waterloo, and a PhD in theoretical physics at the University of British Columbia. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Florida's Institute for Fundamental Theory, and is a member of the American Scientific Affiliation.  Arnold and his wife Valerie live in Langley and have three adult children and three grandchildren.
